Tom retired from Merck & Co., Inc following a 25-year career, mostly specializing in vaccine sales and marketing. Tom held many roles, staring as a sales representative and rising to lead 1,000 person sales forces and $5 billion business units. As Vice President and Global Pediatric Vaccine Franchise Leader, Tom managed numerous successful vaccine launches in the U.S. and international markets. Tom also worked closely with international NGOs, including The Gates Foundation, the Global Alliance, Unicef and the WHO. to bring vaccine to the developing world.
Since 2013, Tom has worked to establish the start-up, TruMed Systems, as the leader in point-of-care vaccine storage and handling. Tom managed all commercial interests through the development and introduction of the AccuVax® vaccine management system, and now manages government relations, on a part-time basis.
Prior to his business career, Tom was a commissioned officer in the US Army. Over 20 years of active and reserve service, Tom served in multiple assignments, notably the 82nd Airborne Division, and the US Army Intelligence and Security Command’s Field Station Berlin. He served twice in combat zones, participating in Operation Urgent Fury (Granada 1983) and Desert Storm (Iraq 1991). Tom earned numerous awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
