FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are Special Operations Forces?

Special Operations Forces (SOF) are specially trained and equipped men and women who are organized by the Department of Defense to organize against strategic and tactical targets in pursuit of national military, political, economic, or psychological objectives. Their missions are carried out in both peace and during hostilities and may be carried out by conventional or unconventional means.

What does SOF do?

Special Operations Forces plan and prepare for unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, and direct action in support of U.S. national policies and objectives.

What makes SOF personnel different?

These personnel undergo careful selection processes and mission-specific training that is well beyond basic military skills. Additionally, Special Operations Personnel are specially trained personnel not only support conventional operations, but they may also be used independently when the use of conventional forces is either inappropriate or unfeasible.

What is a Fore Country golf event?

Fore Country creates opportunities for Special Operations service members and community members to pair together in a golf foursome at courses across the nation. Here, the mixed teams bridge the civilian-military divide by sharing employment insights, creating lasting relationships, and driving future recruiting opportunities for our U.S. military and private organizations.

What is Fore Country’s value proposition?

Fore Country is the only nonprofit organization that aims to consistently strengthen SOF and community relationships through golf collaborations across the nation. These opportunities help to prepare Operators for challenges they may meet as they transition from military service. The organization also provides an opportunity to educate our communities about the SOF mission by creating a dialogue that helps to translate SOF skills into private industry opportunities.
